Roderick “Rod” A. Scherer
Roderick “Rod” A. Scherer, 52, of Bellevue, Nebraska formerly of Central City, Nebraska died Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at UNMC in Omaha after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Pastor Tess Hufford officiating. There will be no visitation and burial will be at a later date.

Rod was born on October 17, 1960 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Carl and Ila (Tyson) Scherer. He grew up in Central City and graduated from Central City High School in 1979.
While in Central City, Rod worked for Bonnavilla Homes and then Atlantic Homes. When Atlantic Homes closed, he moved to Omaha and was working for the Brandeis Building as a maintenance man at the time of his death.
Rod’s greatest passion was playing golf.
He is survived by his step- daughter – Ashley Teahon of Aurora,
NE; his mother – Ila of Grand Island, NE; two brothers- Jim and Cindy Scherer of
Crete, NE, and Gary Scherer of Omaha, NE; two sisters- Sheryl Scherer of
Bellevue, NE, and Carla and Rick Chancellor of Seoul, South Korea; nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Rod was preceded in death by his father- Carl and an infant brother- Freddie Dean
